Historic London Trip

On 24th April, a group of 39 GCSE history students from Uxbridge High School took part in a school trip to Whitechapel in central London.

The trip included a two hour guided walking tour around Whitechapel led by two experts on Victorian London and the events surrounding the Jack the Ripper case. Victorian Whitechapel is a detailed case study which all GCSE history students at Uxbridge High need to be informed about for their exam. The students involved were able to visit specific locations previously referred to in history lessons and to ask questions as they went along. The tour also involved looking at primary evidence relating to the crimes of Jack the Ripper and seeing what a Victorian Whitechapel slum house would have looked like.

It was a fantastic trip with a group of enthusiastic and engaged UHS students. Each student was an excellent ambassador for the school community as a whole and took the opportunity to improve their historical knowledge.
