Weekly Update

Dear parents, carers and students

 

I hope this message finds you well, and I extend my warmest wishes for a Happy New Year! As we step into 2024, it's my pleasure to update you on the recent events and achievements at Uxbridge High School.

 

Anticipating a Golden Year:

We're thrilled to connect with you at the beginning of 2024, anticipating another golden year for Uxbridge High School. This term, we're excited to share three key themes that will shape our journey: Brilliance at the Basics, Practice Makes Permanent, and Zero Heroes.

 

Brilliance at the Basics:

Last term, we emphasised the importance of being brilliant at the basics. Cultivating habits such as punctuality, proper uniform, and having the right equipment contribute to effective learning. These routines foster positive discipline, enabling our teachers to focus on creating an optimal learning environment. Let's collectively support our students by encouraging them to operate in 'Easy Mode' and excel at the basics.

 

Practice Makes Permanent:

This term's focus is on the concept that practice makes permanent, not perfect. Acknowledging that perfection is unattainable, we encourage continuous practice to solidify learning. Whether in revision, classroom routines, or navigating digital tools like DPR, the more our students practice, the more aspects of their education become permanent.

 

Zero Heroes:

Reflecting on the recent blog before the holidays, we introduced the concept of Zero Heroes. These are students celebrated for accumulating zero negatives for the term. Every student has the chance to be a Zero Hero this term, and those who achieved it last term are encouraged to maintain this standard throughout the year. Remind our students about the opportunity to become Zero Heroes, encouraging a positive and disciplined approach to their studies.

As we strive for gold standards at Uxbridge High School, assemblies will continually emphasise these principles to guide and inspire our students.

 

History Comes Alive:

On another note, our vibrant history mural is a testament to our diverse history curriculum. I encourage you to engage with students about what they've learned in history, and stay tuned for exciting history trips this term.
