Lessons at 10

On Friday, Miss Kaur and Mr Saxena took 10 of their talented coders to visit Downing Street for a coding workshop delivered by Raspberry Pi and Akshata Murty. Akshata Murty, the wife of the current Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, set up a scheme called 'Lessons at 10' that invites young people to Downing Street for sessions on a variety of topics every week. They also seek to make buildings such as 10 Downing Street and the Houses of Parliament more accessible and open to our young people.

Following the coding session, our students were taken on a tour of 10 Downing Street where they visited the Cabinet Room, Margaret Thatcher's old office and saw the portraits and signatures of former Prime Ministers. They were also fortunate enough to be paid a visit by Larry the Cat! Throughout the day, they had the opportunity to talk about their future aspirations, their passion for coding and ask questions about the role of the Prime Minister in our democracy. 

They ended the day taking photos and stood in front of one of the most famous doors in the world before heading back to school to complete their coding projects.
