Principal's Weekly Update

Good morning to all our esteemed students, teachers and parents,

As we step into another vibrant week at our school, I'm thrilled to share with you the latest happenings and upcoming events that make our community so unique and dynamic.  We hope you and your families had a wonderful half-term break. As we return to the routines of school life, we are greeted with the refreshing enthusiasm of our students, ready to tackle the term ahead.

This week, we are thrilled to spotlight our cricket academy, a flourishing initiative that has captured the interest and participation of many students over the past year. Led by the talented Mr Marwan Mohammad, a dedicated teacher of geography and our cricket lead, the academy has become a cornerstone of our extra-curricular offerings. The cricket academy, open to all students, has seen a fantastic turnout, with sessions held every Wednesday after school. Our participants, including both boys and girls, have shown remarkable progress, with some being selected for Buckinghamshire County and borough teams. In addition to playing, we are also proud to offer coaching and umpiring courses, expanding the horizons for our students within the sport.

We encourage parents to support their children's participation in these enriching activities. With the cricket season on the horizon and the weather improving, now is the perfect time for students, whether beginners or those with prior experience, to join in and enjoy the camaraderie and skill development the academy provides.

In line with our focus on the wider curriculum, we urge every student to engage in extracurricular activities. This term, we aim to ensure that every student tries at least one new activity, before the Easter holidays. This initiative is part of our commitment to holistic education, fostering both academic and personal growth.

Additionally, we wish to address the importance of attention and focus in the classroom. Following recent government guidance, we are reminded of our longstanding policy on mobile phone usage. Since 2015, our school has prohibited the use of mobile phones during school hours to minimize distractions and promote concentration. We kindly ask for your continued support in this matter, ensuring that mobile phones are switched off and stored away, to help students maintain their focus on learning.

We also encourage parents to support this initiative at home, particularly by creating distraction-free environments for homework and study time. Together, we can help our students develop the concentration skills they need in today's fast-paced world.

Finally, we have shared some sad news with the Uxbridge High School community in a separate letter. Please take a moment to read it, and do not hesitate to reach out if needed.

As always, we are immensely grateful for your ongoing support. The partnership between our staff and our students' families is invaluable, and it is a cornerstone of the nurturing and high-achieving environment we strive to maintain.

Thank you to our entire school community for another enriching half-term. We look forward to welcoming you back, refreshed and ready to continue our journey of learning and growth. Have a wonderful break, and let's make the upcoming term even more successful!

Thank you for your attention, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend. May the days ahead be filled with warmth and joy.

Take care,
Louisa Seymour
