Principal's Weekly Update

We hope this message finds you well. We're stepping in today for Ms Seymour, who is out doing some important partnership work with other secondary schools in Hillington. We will be following the same format as usual, so let's dive in.

 

Year 9 Options and Careers Fair

Firstly, we want to express how incredibly proud we are of all our Year 9 students and how they engaged with their options taster session on Monday. This is just one part of the activities they're undertaking to ensure they choose the right subjects for them. Next week, we have over 30 contributors, representing a diverse range of industries, coming to our school for our Careers Fair. We're particularly excited about Aston Martin bringing in one of their DB11’s! Please do speak to your children and ask about the companies they spoke to, what they thought about them, and remind them that all of these jobs are achievable for them as long as they work hard.

 

We appreciate your continued patience and support as we strive to provide an excellent school experience. To encourage more student autonomy, we ask that when your child comes home from school, you ask two questions: what did they do well in school today? and how do they think they could improve their experience tomorrow? 

 

Ramadan at UHS

With Ramadan now underway, we're mindful of its significance. We've increased the capacity of our prayer room and asked teachers to consider the impact of fasting on students during lessons. Additionally, iftar boxes are available to order, especially for those who normally receive free school meals. If you are interested in these, please order a box for your child to collect and take home at the end of the day.

 

Parent Open Morning

Lastly, we invite you to witness the great work happening at our school during an open day session next Tuesday. If you're interested, please email the office to sign up.
