Principal's Weekly Update

Celebrating Progress, Communication, and Collaboration
Welcome to the third blog of 2025! Time seems to be flying by as we settle into another exciting and productive year at Uxbridge High School. This week, we are focusing on three key themes: progress, communication, and collaboration—all inspired by feedback from our recent parent survey. Thank you to everyone who participated!
Joining me today is Miss Silva, our Raising Standards Lead for Key Stage 3, who will share some insights into one of the school’s most transformative tools: DPR.
Empowering Students, Teachers, and Parents with DPR
Miss Silva shared her enthusiasm for the DPR, a platform revolutionising how we monitor and support student progress.
For teachers, DPR allows us to capture real-time updates on how students are progressing in their lessons. It helps us set learning objectives, monitor progress, and create tailored tasks that help students master their subjects.
For students, DPR is an incredible resource that puts the power of learning in their hands. Instead of waiting for test results or parent evenings, students can log in daily to track their progress in each subject. With guidance from their teachers, they can identify key objectives they have mastered and those that need more work.
For parents, DPR ensures you are never in the dark about your child’s progress. You can access their updates at any time, making it easier to have meaningful discussions about learning at home.
DPR truly exemplifies our commitment to fostering a culture of high expectations and collaboration among students, parents, and staff.
Improving Communication
A key theme from the parent survey was communication, and we are committed to improving this vital area. As Miss Silva explained, DPR is just one of the ways we share progress. Here is a quick reminder of our communication channels:
- School website and social media pages: these are packed with information about events, policies, and updates.
- Email: for direct queries, reach out via the parents@uhs.org.uk email.
- Parent surgeries: every Monday, parents are invited to meet with staff and discuss concerns or ideas.
We recognise that some parents feel responses to emails could be quicker. If you have not received a reply within 24 hours, please escalate your query to the main parent email address mentioned above, with leadership in the subject section.
High Expectations and Routines
This week's assemblies focused on high expectations, a theme that resonated with comments from the survey. At Uxbridge High School, we believe that clear routines and our PROUD values, including respect and uniqueness, are the foundation for success.
These routines are designed to ensure every student thrives, including those with special educational needs (SEND) or neurodiversity. Last term, we held a SEND clinic, where parents shared valuable feedback that is already shaping our approach. We plan to host similar clinics again soon.
We encourage you to visit our school to see our routines and values in action. This may address any misconceptions and provide clarity about how we operate.
Looking Ahead: Collaboration is Key
As we reflect on the survey results, it is clear that collaboration between parents and the school is essential to achieving the best outcomes for our students. We value your feedback, whether through surveys, parent evenings, or surgeries, and we are committed to creating a supportive and inclusive environment for every family.
Thank you for your continued support. Let’s keep working together to make 2025 a fantastic year for Uxbridge High School.
Have a great weekend, and we will see you next week!
Warm regards,
Louisa Seymour
