Enrichment Opportunities and the Wider Curriculum
UHS aims to provide exceptional sporting, musical, artistic and other wider curricular opportunities for every student.
Aims:
- To provide a breadth of opportunities for our students to extend their learning beyond the remit of the classroom curriculum
- To help close the gap between advantaged and disadvantaged students
The wide-ranging opportunities offered to our students are exceptional and cater for all groups, students and interests. We offer a large number and variety of wider curricular clubs/activities during and after school.
We encourage participation in school, local and national competitions through our established house system, through sporting fixtures with local schools and more widely through competitions such as the UKMT and the London Mayor's Count On Us challenge.
We have a well-established and high profile Duke of Edinburgh programme at UHS which is one of the cornerstones of our enrichment provision.
Educational visits offer a fantastic opportunity for our students to experience an out-of-the-classroom learning environment.
UHS is always looking to enhance our enrichment opportunities and welcomes any support from the community to offer more for our students.
In addition to the wider curriculum clubs available before and after school, we also provide an exciting selection of enrichment clubs every Tuesday during period 6. These include a variety of sporting activities such as badminton, rugby, and basketball, as well as musical, performing arts, and wellbeing clubs. All the before and after-school clubs we offer can be found on the school website. For further details about the period 6 Enrichment Tuesday clubs, please encourage your child to speak to their Form Tutor or email parents@uhs.org.uk if you have any specific questions.
