Open Mic Night
Students from Years 7-12 put on a fantastic show of singing, Dhol drumming and performance art on Thursday 10th November at Open Mic Night. Every student who performed did so with professionalism and made family, friends and staff proud of what they had achieved.
The concert kicked off with a fantastic performance by guest judge and Uxbridge High alumni, Shelby Best. Sixth Formers Courtney Ryan and Jarvis Edobor helped the show run smoothly by seamlessly announcing the acts and asking the judges for feedback after each performance. All performers gave it their all and kept the audience captivated throughout the show.
Coming in Third Place was Year 7 student, Kirshana Meerakar, signing Diamonds by Rihanna. Krishana impressed the judges by having a great stage presence. Year 10 student, Mariam Khan, secured second place with her enchanting tone quality when singing Me and my Broken Heart by Rixton. First place went to Nicola Humphrys, who wowed judges and the whole audience, with her combination of keyboard playing and powerful vocals, when performing Young Blood by Bea Miller. Another stand out performance was Sanessa and Anil with their original performance art piece These Lies.
The event would not have been possible without the help of many students involved behind the scenes, including stage crew, photography, organising the performers back stage and those helping at the door.
Ms Carrera and Ms van Hoogland would like to congratulate all students involved on the commitment and determination they showed during rehearsals in the weeks leading up to the concert.
