Sports Careers Fair
Brunel University recently offered a number of local schools the opportunity to take part in a Sports Careers Fair, to which we took 11 Year 10 GCSE PE students. This event took place on Thursday 20th April 2017.
The careers fair was a chance for students to discover the many opportunities available to them, should they choose to follow a career in sport. Commencing with a session about the sports courses on offer at Brunel University, the day also included a number of practical workshops and a motivational talk on self-improvement.
It was the practical workshops that helped give a real insight into the world of working in sport for UHS students. They took part in sessions led by QPR Community Trust, a personal trainer (PT), a sports psychologist, a leading sports coach and an outdoor adventure activities company. Each workshop was highly engaging, both giving students some hands-on experience and allowing them the opportunity to question the different workshop presenters.
Finishing the day with a lecture on ‘Sport Psychology and Self-Improvement’ from Jeremy Dry, Director of Maximize, one of the UK’s leading motivational companies, topped off an informative and eye-opening experience for all involved. We look forward to returning next year!
