Barcelona Trip
Barcelona Trip 7th – 10th March 2017
Our Diary of Events
Day 1:
We arrived at the airport and took a bus to the hostel. We then took a walking tour to the Gothic Quarter, bought lunch at a supermarket and ate it in the cathedral square. Upon our return to the hostel, the students took advantage of the facilities and got an early night ready for day two.
Day 2:
We woke up early for our first language lesson at International House. The students took to the lessons quickly, making rapid progress and growing hugely in confidence. After the lessons, we returned to the hostel to get ready for our treasure hunt in Park Guell. We took the bus to the park and the students began their photo treasure hunt, in which they had to take photos with some of Antonio Gaudí’s most famous works. On the way back to the hostel, we stopped off at a well-known shopping centre, where the students were able to explore the complex and try some shopping in Spanish. In the evening, after a dinner at the hostel, we went bowling until it was time for bed.
Day 3:
After taking part in the second and final language lesson, the students prepared themselves for our walking tour of Camp Nou, the Barcelona football stadium. The tour took us through the trophy room, down into the players’ changing-rooms, out to the pitch and players’ seating and up into the stands. The tour finished in the team shop where students could buy a range of official merchandise. In the evening, we went out for a meal at ‘100 Montaditos’, a well know tapas-style chain of restaurants, where the students learned more about Spanish cuisine and customs.
Day 4:
After a later start, we walked to the Sagrada Familia and then down one of Barcelona’s most famous shopping streets. After a lunch of tapas, we headed back to the hostel to catch our bus to the airport and finally, our flight home.
