CSI Dead on Time
On Friday 12th October 2018, six Year 8 students participated in the STEM forensic science event: ‘CSI Dead on Time’ at Brunel University. In addition to reinforcing core scientific concepts, this exciting science trip is designed to help students to develop problem solving and critical thinking skills in STEM, through teamwork and collaboration.
The day combined the excitement of a mission and using real-world forensics to solve a ‘crime case’. Our students examined the crime scene, as scene of crime officers in full kit, which entailed: white overall suits; face masks and overshoes, in order to locate and retrieve evidence including fingerprints, DNA profiles and ink chromatography.
The visit was a resounding success and especially beneficial in bolstering students’ interest and enthusiasm for STEM careers.
Well done to all the students who took part!
