Principal's Weekly Update
Dear parents/carers
Greetings from Uxbridge High School. We're thrilled to share the latest updates and happenings from our vibrant school community.
Engaging Curriculum in Action
In our endeavor to make learning come alive, we're excited to showcase one of our state-of-the-art music classrooms in action. As you can see, our students are immersed in a dynamic learning experience, led by the talented Mr. Dawson. This is just one example of how we bring the curriculum to life, ensuring that our students thrive both in and out of the classroom.
Summer Opportunities
With summer just around the corner, we're delighted to unveil many exciting opportunities for our students. From music concerts to art exhibitions, and thrilling trips to renowned museums, Cadbury World and The Big Bang Fair, there's something for everyone. We encourage parents/carers to explore these opportunities and contact us for any assistance in facilitating their child's participation.
Additionally, our upcoming music concert in July promises to be a highlight of the summer calendar. In collaboration with our art department, the concert will showcase the incredible musical talents of our students, complemented by a stunning art exhibition. It's a not-to-be-missed event that celebrates the creativity and dedication of our young artists and musicians.
Fostering Partnership
At Uxbridge High School, we believe in the power of partnership between school, students, and parents/carers. We've recently communicated our mobile phone policy, emphasising the importance of minimising distractions and maximising learning opportunities. We appreciate your support in ensuring a conducive learning environment at school and home. Furthermore, as we approach the end of the academic year, we recognise the importance of maintaining excellent attendance. With warmer weather upon us, we encourage parents/carers to ensure that their child/ren come to school well-hydrated and ready to engage in learning. Together, we can ensure that every student achieves their full potential.
Exam Season Update
As exam season unfolds, we're proud of our students' dedication and preparedness. From RE exams to subject-specific assessments, our students are showcasing their academic prowess. We extend our gratitude to parents/carers for their encouragement and support during this crucial period.
We want to highlight the special arrangements we've made for Year 11 and 13 students. They are welcome to arrive early on exam days to enjoy a nutritious free breakfast in the sixth form area. We believe that a well-fed student is better equipped to perform at their best, and we're delighted to see the positive impact this initiative is having on our students.
Celebrating Achievements
We're delighted to celebrate the achievements of our students in various endeavors. From STEM events to athletics competitions, our students continue to excel and make us proud. We look forward to sharing more success stories in the weeks to come.
This week, our Year 9 students participated in the District Athletics competition, securing three medals for their outstanding performances. Additionally, our STEM event received glowing feedback from visiting professionals, highlighting the enthusiasm and talent of our students in science, technology, engineering, and math.
Music Department Spotlight
We're excited to spotlight our vibrant music department led by Mr. Dawson, who embodies our school's values of inclusivity and excellence.
Mr. Dawson emphasises the importance of valuing all subjects equally, showcasing our cutting-edge facilities that provide students with state-of-the-art opportunities in music and technology. He highlights the upcoming summer concert, a collaborative event with the art department, as a celebration of our students' creativity and talent. Additionally, Mr. Dawson invites students to join the stage vocals club, offering a supportive environment for aspiring singers to develop their skills which takes place every Tuesday after school.
Looking Ahead
As we bid farewell to another week, we encourage everyone to enjoy the sunshine and embrace the weekend. Remember to stay hydrated and take some time to relax and rejuvenate. We look forward to welcoming everyone back next week for another exciting chapter in our journey of learning and growth.
Warm regards,
Louisa Seymour
