Principal's Weekly Update
Greetings from Uxbridge High School
Hello everyone,
As always, it is lovely to connect with you. Welcome to this week's newsletter! This week, we have a special message from Ms Koubou, who will be sharing exciting updates about our languages program.
Parental Engagement and Involvement
I have three key points to share with you this week, all related to enhancing parental engagement and involvement:
- Facility Improvements: Hopefully, you’ve had a chance to read the letter I sent out discussing our new facilities. We are proud to have invested significantly in updating our school infrastructure. Thank you to all our students for respecting these new spaces. The updates have been in place for nearly a year, and we are thrilled with how they are utilised.
- Staying Hydrated: With the warm weather, it’s essential for everyone to stay hydrated. We’ve been reminding students to bring a bottle of water each day. Many already do, as evidenced by our social media posts, but we ask for continued parental support in this matter. If students forget their water bottles, they can always visit the welfare office for a recyclable one.
- New School Week Consultation: We recently held a meeting about the proposed changes to our school week for next year. Thank you to all the parents who participated. I will send a detailed letter with the conclusions from the consultation and answers to frequently asked questions. Your feedback is invaluable in helping us shape a school week that benefits everyone.
Upcoming Events and Activities
Parental involvement is a cornerstone of our community, and we are grateful for your continuous support. Here is a glimpse of what is coming up:
- Laurel Leaf Event: A huge thank you to all the parents who attended this event. Your support and kind words mean the world to us.
- Year Group Events: Last week, our Year 9 students had their options talk, and this week we have events for Year 7 and 8, including the Party with the Principal and various trips.
- Art Week: This was recently advertised, and we encourage all parents to join in celebrating our students’ creativity.
- Prom: The prom is approaching, and we are excited to share photos of our students looking their best. This follows the fantastic Year 13 leaving event we had last week.
Language Club Update
Now, I’d like to hand over to Ms Koubou, our French teacher, to talk about the fantastic opportunities our Language Club offers.
A message from Ms Koubou
Hello everyone,
I am delighted to talk about our Language Club. Students can watch French or Spanish films and choose their favourites. As a French/Spanish teacher, I believe mastering reading, speaking, listening, and writing skills is crucial. The Language Club provides a perfect platform for students to enhance their listening and comprehension skills.
The skills students learn in their language lessons and extracurricular activities benefit them across the entire curriculum. Encouraging your children to participate will help them improve their vocabulary, comprehension, and communication skills, which are essential in all subjects.
Thank you for reading and have a wonderful weekend. Enjoy the great weather, and we look forward to seeing you next week.
Sincerely,
Louisa Seymour
Principal
