Welcome to the Academic Year 2024-2025

Welcome to the Academic Year 2024-2025

Good morning, everyone!

I am delighted to welcome you all to the start of the new academic year at Uxbridge High School. There are a few important things I'd like to share with you in this welcome message.

Firstly, I want to highlight three significant developments that have taken place at the school over the summer holidays. Secondly, I’ll provide you with three top tips to ensure a "Golden Start" to the year.

You might not realise it, but I'm currently filming this message from the IT corridor. The reason for this is that we’ve once again made substantial updates and improvements to our school building over the summer. I’m excited to share with you just how impactful these changes are, particularly here in the IT corridor. It’s important that our students appreciate the effort we put into creating the ideal learning environment, and as parents, you know that we are always striving to enhance the educational setting for our young people.

The second significant event of the summer is something I hope you’ve already seen on our Twitter account or school website—the outstanding examination results achieved by our Year 13 and Year 11 students from last year. If you check our Twitter feed, you’ll see the diversity of university destinations our students are heading to, as well as some of the exceptional results our Year 11 students achieved. We’re incredibly proud of every student, whether they attained top grades or exceeded their own expectations.

The third and final highlight from the summer is something happening right now. You might notice I’m wearing our “Golden” top—this is because we’ve kicked off the staff CPD with a “Golden Start.” Over the next two days, our focus is on ensuring that by Wednesday, when students begin arriving, we are fully prepared to continue improving and being our “Golden Best” for every parent and young person at this school.

Now, let me offer you three tips to ensure you have a “Golden Start” when the new school year begins on Wednesday:

  1. Stay Informed: Whether you’re a parent or a student, make sure to visit our website and social media feeds if you haven’t already. All the information you need to succeed at Uxbridge High School—start times, finish times, and details about the first week—is available there.
  2. Dress for Success: On your first day, make sure you arrive in full “Gold Standard” uniform, and be punctual. Being ready from day one sets the tone for an amazing academic year.
  3. Embrace Our Golden Values: Come equipped with our “Golden Proud” values. All our students, including those new to the school, are familiar with these values from their transition day or summer school. This year, we want to see you embody Golden Positivity, Golden Respect and Kindness, Golden Open-mindedness, Golden Uniqueness, and Golden Determination. These values are integral to everything we do, and you’ll learn more about how they shape our school culture when you meet your tutor on the first day.

That’s all from me for this first vlog. You’ll hear from me again at the end of the week with updates on how the first few days have gone.

I hope you all had a wonderful summer holiday. The energy during our first CPD session this morning was palpable, and we’re all incredibly excited to welcome you back.

Many thanks, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Sincerely,

Louisa Seymour

Principal
