Weekly Update: Uxbridge High School Highlights
Hello everyone,
Welcome to this week’s Uxbridge High School vlog! Here is a look at some of the incredible happenings in our school community, focusing on parental engagement, the support of our FLC initiatives, and recent co-curricular events.
Parental Engagement: A Unified Community
Last week, we had our Ofsted inspection, and although we cannot share specific outcomes yet, we were profoundly moved by the overwhelming support from our parents.
Your responses to the parental survey highlighted how much you value the school’s efforts. The heartfelt comments mirrored the feedback we received from students and staff and were reaffirmed by the observations made by the inspection team. This alignment speaks volumes about the strong sense of community we share.
A special thank-you goes out to those who joined our SEND Engagement Morning. Your feedback continues to shape how we provide tailored support through adaptive teaching. It was inspiring to see the collaboration between parents and staff ensuring every child thrives.
Spotlight on FLC: Nurturing Success
This week, we are shining a light on the wonderful work of our FLC. One standout example is the Year 7 Nurture Group. These students build the foundations for success throughout their school journey through focused, one-to-one sessions.
The ongoing partnership between FLC and parents plays a vital role in this success. Events like the recent SEND morning give families a deeper understanding of how we support students and ensure we are always listening to your ideas for improvement.
Co-Curricular Excellence: Inspiring Opportunities
Despite the busy schedule, we have been proud to maintain a vibrant calendar of co-curricular activities. During the recent Ofsted visit, inspectors were impressed by the diversity of enrichment programs available to our students. These ranged from debate club to chess and jewellery-making, showcasing the breadth of opportunities our young people enjoy.
Here are just a few highlights from the past week:
- Oxbridge Aspirations: Our Year 12 students visited St. Anne’s College, Oxford, as part of their journey toward attending top universities. This experience emphasised the high aspirations we hold for every student.
- Economic Insights: Year 12 also had the chance to explore the Bank of England, gaining valuable knowledge about finance and economics.
- Speak Out Challenge: Year 10 students enhanced their public speaking skills in this engaging challenge, building confidence in communication—an essential life skill.
These activities reflect our commitment to developing well-rounded individuals who embody our gold standard in education.
Looking Ahead
There is even more to come! Keep an eye out for updates on upcoming visits, including those linked to history and government. These enriching experiences continue to inspire our students to explore new horizons and aim high.
A Final Note of Thanks
We want to express heartfelt gratitude to our students, staff, and parents for their extraordinary efforts during the recent Ofsted inspection. The pride and passion that define Uxbridge High School shone through, and we could not be prouder of this shared achievement.
As the weather turns colder, let’s celebrate the sunshine of community spirit and the warmth of collective success. Have a wonderful weekend, and we will see you back here next week for more updates!
